The Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes, Assam has released the official notification of the Assam OBC Scholarship Scheme. Basically, these are centrally sponsored schemes of Pre-Matric and Post-Matric scholarships for the students of Assam belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC / MOBC) for the academic year 2023-2024

Eligibility Criteria of OBC Scholarship
In this OBC Scholarship Scheme, two types of categories are eligible to submit their applications. These two categories are Pre-Matric and Post-Matric. For both categories, eligibility criteria are different. The category-wise eligibility criteria details are as follows.
Pre-Matric Scholarship: Students who are studying in class 10th or below will come under this category. That is, students studying from class 1 to class 10 have to submit their application under the Pre-Matric Scholarship category.
Post-Matric Scholarship: Students who are studying 11th or above, have to apply under the Post-Matric Scholarship category. In other words, students who are studying in Higher Secondary, Graduation, Post-Graduation, etc. have to apply under this category.
Annual Family Income: Candidates whose annual family income is less than 2.50 Lakh are eligible for this scholarship scheme.
Note: Only those students who have an OBC certificate are eligible for this scholarship scheme. Without a valid caste certificate, the application will be rejected.

The following paperwork must be ready before students can begin the OBC scholarship application process. The completion of the application process requires the following documents, so all applicants should make sure they are available.

Note: Students who do not have an Aadhaar card will have to produce a Bonafide certificate. The bonafide certificate will be generated automatically after you register for the scholarship in NSP. Students have to download that system-generated format and get it signed by their Heads of Institutions. Also, you may need to attach a passport-size photograph in that certificate format before it is signed by the head of the institution.

How to Apply for an OBC Scholarship?
Students who are eligible for the OBC Scholarship Scheme will need to submit their online applications at the official website of the National Scholarship Portal. For the ease of our users, we have compiled a list of steps to be followed to complete the application process for this scholarship. Students can have a look at the following steps before proceeding with the application process.
- Scroll down, and check the Important Link section.
- Click on the Online Application Link.
- Now, an official web portal will load in the new tab of your browser.
- In that portal, you will get the option to register yourself.
- Note that you do not need to register again if you are renewing your scholarship.
- After registration, you have to provide all your required details.
- After that a page containing your Student Application ID will be displayed, please note down that ID for future use and click on the Continue button.
- Now, a login form will load. In that form, enter your User ID, and Password (was sent to your registered mobile number), verify the Captcha, and click on the orange-colored Login button.
- After successful login, you will get a form. Where you need to fill in your Registration Details, Academic Details, and Basic Details.
- After filling in those details, click on the Save and Continue button.
- Now, you will have to fill in Contact Details, Scheme Details (Pre-Matric or Post-Matric OBC Scholarship), and Upload Documents.
- After that, click on the green-colored Final Submit button.
- Now, a page with all your filled details will appear. Click on the Print button to take a copy of the submitted application.
- After that, go to your institute or college and submit that printed application acknowledgment copy along with all the relevant documents demanded by your institute or college.
- That is just the complete process of the OBC Scholarship application.
