Scheme of CHSL Examination
Applicants whose applications are found eligible will have to participate in two tiers of computer-based examinations. Candidates should note that the marks scored in computer-based examinations, if conducted in multiple shifts, will be normalized using the formula published by the Commission. In the event of any difference, discrepancy, or dispute in the questions between English and the opted language, the content of the English version shall prevail.
Tier-I (Computer Based Examination)
The Tier-I Examination will consist of Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions only. The questions will be set in English, Hindi, and any language opted by the candidate in the application form. The structure of the Tier-I exam will be as follows.
Type of Questions: Tier-I will consist of Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions.
Negative Marking: There will be a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
Time Duration: 60 minutes (80 minutes for the candidates eligible for scribe as per Para-7.1 and 7.2 of the official notification).

Tier-II (Computer Based Examination)
Candidates who are shortlisted based on their performance in Tier-I will be called for the Tier-II Examination. Applicants are advised to refer to page 15 of the official notification for more details regarding the Tier-II exam.
