India Post Recruitment 2025: On 7th February 2025, the Department of Posts, under the Ministry of Communications, released an official notification for the recruitment of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDSs), including Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevaks, in various post offices across the country. The department has invited online applications from eligible candidates to fill 21,413 vacancies across multiple states.

India post Recruitment Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the Secondary School Examination (10th standard) with Mathematics and English as compulsory or elective subjects from a recognized Board of School Education under the Government of India, State Governments, or Union Territories. This qualification is mandatory for all categories of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDSs).

Age Limit: Applicants must be at least 18 years old and should not exceed 40 years as of the last date of application submission.

Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC candidates and 10 years for the PwD candidates.

Local Language Proficiency: Candidates must have studied the local language of the respective postal circle at least up to the 10th standard.

Knowledge of Cycling: Knowledge of cycling is a mandatory requirement for all GDS posts. Candidates who can ride a scooter or motorcycle will also be considered to have knowledge of cycling.

Application Fee: Candidates are required to pay an application fee of ₹100 (Rupees One Hundred only). However, Female candidates, SC/ST candidates, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and Transwomen candidates are exempted from the fee. The payment can be made through Net Banking from any bank or using Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Cards or UPI Payment.


Selection Process for India Post GDS

The India Post Recruitment selection process for Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) is based on a merit-based shortlisting system. Candidates will be assessed on their academic performance in the 10th standard examination and must meet all eligibility criteria as per the official notification. 1. Shortlisting

4. Appointment

Candidates who successfully complete the document verification process will be appointed as Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) in their respective postal circles.
